Nothing says "I love you" like sending every single one of your hot new handset models your way, and that's pretty much the beautiful romance that's going on between Moto and China as of late. The A1600, A1800, and A810 have all induced various levels of lust from outsiders who can't get their paws on 'em (not yet, anyway), and now we've got another little bundle of Linux-powered joy to drool over, the VE75 slider. It'll happily swallow a pair of SIMs (as so many Asian market handsets tend to do) and offers EDGE data, a 2 megapixel camera, WQVGA display, and microSD slot. It'll be available -- and we use the term "available" loosely until a more global announcement is made -- in black and white.

Just because Virgin's scooping up Helio doesn't necessarily mean the product parade needs to stop (not to say it was moving at anything more than a glacial pace to begin with), and to that end, the MVNO has just released its Mysto and Heat models in white and red, respectively. The creatively-named White Mysto and Red Heat are initially available exclusively to the Korean community -- a strategy Helio has used before -- and there's no word on if or when they'll be outed on a wider scale. We would've preferred an Ocean 2 release here, but at the very least, you've got to admit that these new colors suit 'em well.

Pretty ironic that a phone uppity enough to be coined the "GlamPhone" has to suffer the indignity of a few unflattering shots lying on a laboratory table somewhere, isn't it? Alas, another version of Alcatel's ELLE-branded line of fashion handsets did what it had to do to earn the FCC's undying love, though there's really not much to talk about here: dedicated music controls, stereo Bluetooth, and a meager cam round out the feature set, along with enough GSM 850 / 1900 to get by in these parts. Oh, and there's USB mass storage mode, too -- a must for any product with the word "glam" in it.

Yeah, we know pixel count doesn't equal picture quality -- but like it or not, it looks like 8 megapixels are poised to become the new 5 megapixels in the upper echelon of the cameraphone world this year. Samsung's never a company to shy away from a challenge like that, and sure enough, details are emerging on a so-called i8510 smartphone that features S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1, 7.2Mbps HSDPA, FM radio, GPS, WiFi, and a whopping 16GB of internal storage -- not to mention a microSD slot that can take you up to 24GB. Oh, and there's the little matter of that camera, which features an dual LED flash and 120fps video capture at QVGA resolution. Add in DivX and DLNA certification, and we're kind of at a loss to figure out what's missing here. Boundless, unchecked hype, maybe? No word on a release date here just yet.

Who would've thought that Nokia's first Series 40 dual slider would be for CDMA networks? Well, not so fast -- these two aren't exactly Series 40, it seems. Nokia hasn't announced either the 3608 flip or 8208 dual slider officially, but official specs and pictures have popped up on an Espoo-owned domain that reveal the China-bound handsets to operate on CDMA 800 / 1900, and in the case of the 8208, we can say with certainty that there's EV-DO Rev. A on board. Anyway, as we were saying, Nokia lists both as having "Series 40 Nokia like UIs," with "like" being the key word there; we suspect these are either still being manufactured for Nokia by a third party, Series 40 can't rock CDMA in its current incarnation, or a little bit of both. Trust us, though, Nokia -- that doesn't mean you shouldn't take these cute little guys global.

One of the great joys of unboxings is being able to appreciate a product from afar that -- let's be honest -- you have no business buying yourself. Take, for example, LG's tantalizing Secret slider, a phone that would definitely get the job done in many parts of the world -- but if you find yourself trapped in North America, the lack of HSDPA and GSM 850 make it a tough sell, despite the mere 11.8mm of depth and 5 megapixel autofocus cam with face detection. Fortunately, we've got enough photography over on Engadget Spanish to get the Secret mostly out of our system, so go on, have a look!

News flash: there are apparently still smartphone buyers in the world who don't care about high-speed data. Yeah, we can't fathom it either, but Samsung is apparently taking that belief to heart with the rumored i740, a spiritual successor to the i710 series. The Windows Mobile 6.1 device, it seems, would go cold turkey on all forms of quick downloads -- 3G and WiFi alike -- but hang on to GPS, an FM radio, 2.8-inch touchscreen, 3 megapixel camera with flash, Bluetooth, and microSD slot. The metal (or merely metallic, perhaps) casing looks good enough for a higher-end device at first glance, so if they can keep the package ridiculously cheap, we might be willing to look past the inevitable descent into insanity that comes with a slow-ass mobile browsing experience.

The W580 is one of Sony Ericsson's more popular handsets for three very simple reasons: it's cheap, it's reasonably sharp-looking, and it knows its way around a playlist. Problem is, it's getting a little long in the tooth -- and that might just be where this rumored W595 (codenamed "Linda") comes into play. The spied slider claims a 3.2 megapixel camera, FM radio, stereo speakers, shake control (for controlling the media player with a few well-executed flicks of the wrist), and a svelte 14mm shell. Give us North American 3, Sony Ericsson, and we're sold.

It's easy for some of the mid-range riff raff to get buried by the headliners at trade shows, and that's exactly what happened with a pair of LG sliders at CommunicAsia this year that still deserve just a little bit of attention. The KT520 is arguably the more attractive of the two, featuring HSDPA, QVGA display, and a 3 megapixel autofocus cam. The KF390, meanwhile, doesn't put a heck of a lot of effort into being pretty or powerful -- but the basic model does feature a handful of disappearing touch-sensitive buttons (a little tribute to the Chocolate, we guess) and a 2 megapixel cam.

The second model in Motorola's new ZINE line -- the ZN200 slider -- has officially broken cover, though it's with a whole hell of a lot less fanfare than the first. There are plenty of reasons for that noticeably lower-key intro, of course; a less-than-spellbinding design and unremarkable 2 megapixel camera (with no Kodak branding to be found, mind you) are the two standouts that come immediately to our attention, and the 30MB of on-board storage isn't helping the case, either. It should be launching in Brazil alongside the Z10 for 499 reais (about $311) in your choice of black or pink, and Moto'll throw in a 1GB memory card for that price, too, just 'cause they like ya.

After weeks of hand-wringing, we've finally settled on a winner of our contest for LG's uber-limited $1,500 Iron Man edition Shine! We asked you to send in pictures of the busted-up pieces of garbage you call "phones," and holy cow, did we get some doozies.

Without further adieu, our winner, Mark H., comes to us from Novato, California. Here's his story:

"I need a new phone as you can see. I have had this Nokia phone since 2001. I'm in the military service and my friends make fun of my old phone and now they're really on me since my phone was run over by a car and I use electrical tape to keep the faceplate together. I don't get paid enough by the service to buy a nice new phone."

Congratulations, Mark! Even if this relic were in perfect condition, it'd still be time for an upgrade. Let's try to keep this one a little less scuffed, because that solid gold battery cover definitely does not live up to the "Iron Man" name. Was this thing really discovered last September? Yikes. Nevertheless, Motorola's sleek sliding Z10 has been unboxed and laid down gently in order to be photographed. For those who've stuck with this thing for this long, why not head on down and peruse the gallery waiting for you? We hear there's free lemonade.

Though they've already been well documented (heck, they're already on sale in some parts of the world), Nokia's just now getting around to making its foursome of Supernovas official. The new line reps mid-range fashion (think L'Amour, but not over the top) and comes in your choice of two candybars, a flip, or a slider as the 7210, 7310, 7510, or 7610, respectively. The 7210 features a tri-band GSM radio plus EDGE, a 2 megapixel camera, and an FM radio; look for it to launch in the third quarter for €120 (about $189). The 7310 apes the 7210's look but adds support for changeable Xpress-On faceplates, TV-out, and support for GSM 850, and while all that extra kit adds €35 (about $55) to the price over the lesser model, it's available now. The 7510 goes for the flip form factor but carries over most of the 7310's spec sheet, waiting it out until the fourth quarter for a €180 (about $283) launch in scary colors like "Fatal Red". Finally, the 7610 (no, not that one) moves up to a beefier 3.2 megapixel camera and hits next quarter for €225 (about $354).

Come on, now, Sony Ericsson, you know what happens when you make too many colors of the same damn phone. The W580i was a serviceable midrange Walkman handset in its heyday, but without 3G, it's pretty hard to justify the $99 after contract and rebate that AT&T is asking for the thing in its latest shade -- a nice, shiny red. Ironically, the 3G-equipped Z750a is a solid $50 less, so yeah, we're really not seeing where AT&T is going with this. To be fair, $99 is the same price being asked for every color of the W580i (and there are many at this point), but shouldn't they be using this golden opportunity to lower prices across the board to somewhere within the realm of reason and logic?

So one of the models in Nokia's new low-cost Supernova fashion series, the 7610 slider, just hit the FCC for approval. That's not terribly interesting -- this sort of thing happens on a daily basis. What we did find interesting, though, was this little patch of stars on the backside. It's kind of like that tattoo you've got hidden in a naughty place no one's ever going to see, because those stars lie directly under the far more uptight, boring, slate blue battery cover. What's up with that? North Americans who want to investigate this little mystery in more detail are in luck on account of the quadband GSM / EDGE radio, so as long as you haven't sworn allegiance to the 3G towers in your neighborhood, you'll be good to go -- just don't go shedding your battery cover for every heartbreaker you meet.
